Becky Black & Maya Miller – The Pack A.D.
Billy Bob Thornton says Canada is “like mashed potatoes without the gravy.” Here’s some gravy for you Billy:
Becky Black & Maya Miller – The Pack A.D.

“…grinding out the sort of noise that made boys cry and girls hot “

What’s being said:
Black spits gritty lyrics and moans like she’s spent her last dollar on cheap whiskey. The guitar-driven, aggressive rhythms move between desperation and seduction, and just when you start to settle into Black’s smooth riffs, Miller’s pounding kick pedal erupts with well-timed ferocity.
–Emma McKenna (Now Magazine)The Pack A.D., a Vancouver blues-punk duo that proves you don’t need a bulging package to play the devil’s music. You do need balls, though. And drummer Maya Miller and guitarist-vocalist Becky Black are packing some pretty serious gonads—musically speaking, of course
–Sarah Rowland (The Georgia Straight)
It’s past midnight at the club. It’s the Sunday after Valentine’s Day. It’s a freakin’ benefit show that started 8 hours ago and last call was 15 minutes ago. So why are all these people without so much as a drink in their hands staying put?
Because the last act of the evening is the Pack AD. Some shit in life is always worth the wait.
The only band on MINT Records to blow the roof off of the Crossroads. In their dreams. A no-holds barred garage-rock-blues cage match played out between two dynamic young women from East Van. — the East side of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, where the likelihood of graduating into a criminal record is more likely than the honour roll — is where all the good bands in town come from or live in. There are a lot of gas stations there. ===> more

Stephanie Macpherson
I have been meaning to post on Stephanie Macpherson for weeks – so here’s a little introduction. I’ve been following Steph for the past few weeks while she tours across Canada.
Steph is on tour right now with Zachary Lucky -
MySpace | Twitter | You Tube
Also, follow her twitter for tweets about live streaming during this tour. I’ve watched a three of them already and they’re really great.

Here’s a video of Steph doing one of my favorite songs of hers called “To You”, shot with a sm. camera, but decent sound. |
