Die Mannequin / Bruce McDonald
The audio is slightly distorted on this first video “Saved By Strangers”, but still worth the ride. It kinda freaked me out cuz I just received some new AKG K518LE headphones from back east today and this was the first track I listened to with them. I thought they were fubar, but it’s just the track.
I’m pretty sure that Bruce McDonald directed SBS, as well as made a documentary on the Die a few years ago which I haven’t seen yet. (I hope their’s doesn’t end like “Hard Core Logo”) Anyway check out die manny, Bruce’s films and esp ‘Tracy Fragments’ besides HrdCrLo. I don’t like blabbing but he’s my fave indie Canuck (Besides me – As if I went to Ryerson

Study After Cruel Intention
Below is a clip from a film titled, ”Study After Cruel Intention”. The soundtrack is by Simian Mobile Disco and this piece is the music video for the song “Cruel Intentions” which features vocals from Gossip lead singer, Beth Ditto.
Besides the obvious teenage ‘cruel intentions’ cultural mythology, the film’s clip goes way beyond anything relating to such simple adolescent references.
The characters here are involved in a precursive preparation for a Sapphic orgy with opiates and strong doses of domiation & submission (the ‘D’ and ‘S’ in BDSM for you uninitiated folks – although the D can also stand for ‘Discipline’ and the S for ‘Sado’) Also note – just for acurracies’ sake: bdsm’ers adamantly state that engaging in power exchange rituals should not be mixed with either drugs or alcohol.

Here, the submissive is 'administered' the drug. "I'm going to teach you how to fly." "Oh, yes!" It's almost humorous - one commenter on You Tube said, (and I agree) "This is like watching a reunion episode of the L-Word in 2058."
Anyway, the movie short titled “Study After Cruel Intentions” is what has piqued my interest but there is precious little on the web about the flick, who is making it, or anything for that matter. If you find anything, please enlighten me. I’m curious about who is producing this.
The dialogue at the beginning:
I’m going to teach you how to fly.
Do you want to play that game, Charlotte?
Oh, yes!
Then the clip fades in to a woman close to unconscious on the floor, sweating from an obvious drug (over)dose (opiate based likely). Your first inclination is to feel that she has been drugged against her will. (which basically allays to date rape drugging since the women in the video have intentions of using her sexually).
It is interesting to note that in the video, initially the submissive woman is consensual, saying “Oh yes!” and then later, she tries to kiss her Domme (and is of course, refused – How insolent!). On a subconscious sexual level, this feeds the myth that if you drug a woman and entice her into sex, she will lose her inhibitions and do what she really wants to do, so in a way, you are doing her a favor. This is the date-rape justification that men routinely use to get sex, so from a feminist stance, it is a questionable piece of film. It speaks about how women in society who are introverted / submissive, and are often coerced into sex by dominants (usually played by men, although in the case of another woman, it is still a question of consent and how it was expressed (in what state of mind). As an artist, I am still curious though – who made this and what will the full piece entail?
The whole scene is wrought with power exchange energy – the juice for this ‘disco music video’ – It makes me think that you could easily replace the soundtrack with some church music and turn it into a mormon-esque propaganda film against pop culture. (hmm…)
