Detroit’s MC Invincible and her album Shapeshifters. Just listening to a track on The Detroit Experiment with some MC Invincible wordspeak going on. I’m really liking the MC Invincible and what she’s saying. The album has a wicked documentary hip hop track about how the evil forces are manipulatng real estate at in downtown Detroit, and what this grassroots group of people are doing to change it. The video is as good as Micheal Moore’s first documentary (Roger & Me) about sister-city Flint, MI. I can’t recommend this enough, if you have any interest in urban renewal and truth-core hiphop artists. Here it is:

Detroit based Hip-Hop artists Invincible and Finale rhyme about the impacts of gentrification on the Motor City. This piece includes interviews with community activists discussing displacement and predatory planning versus sustainable development in the D.
Check out the price on these Detroit homes that noone will buy. Crazy. Detroit, MI Realty There’s 634 pages of homes for sale. I went up to page 100 and the prices were still under $10,000 – there’s about 7-8 homes on each page, which means in this listing for homes in Detroit, there’s more than seven hundred homes under $10k!! WTF?
I WAS recently sitting at the bar of Le Petit Zinc talking to the owner, Charles Sorel, when he said something I found shocking: “I can’t imagine opening a business anywhere but Detroit.” read more ==> It Takes a Village to Open a Bistro
Last night BET aired their 2009 Hip Hop Awards (although it was filmed back on the 18th of October). Featuring many hot things including Cyphers during commercial breaks that included freestyles from the games hottest artists like Eminem, Mos Def, Joe Budden, Nicki Minaj, Wale and More, not to mention opening the show with a performance from Jay-Z and Young Jeezy (not to mention a special performance where Goodie Mob teamed up with West Coast legends Ice Cube and Dr Dre), it was definitely a not-miss, BUT if you did miss it, NO WORRIES, we got you!
